The End of the Affair

The End of the Affair

WARNING - SPOILERS!

Synopsis - The title pretty much says it all. The Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore characters are having an affair. Rather slow-paced and somewhat confusing sometimes (non-linear story-telling).
Released - 1999
Character - Father Richard Smythe
Accent - English (Received Pronunciation - neutral)
Good guy or bad boy? - Snotty pious guy
Bastard rating - 1 ( one point for his lack of people skills)
Blood & Bullets - Lots of bombs exploding, disintegrating buildings, a bit of blood. Rated R (nudity).
Costumes - Priestly garb, hat, umbrella
Pinky Ring? - No.
Hair - short
Other cast - Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore.
Squidge factor - Well it's there because it is Jason Isaacs of course, but he is quite different from Father Luca. Father Smythe is disapproving and smug, and has quite a superior attitude about him. Not very appealing really, except for the tea cup (I'm assuming it's tea this time, but I don't know). Two tea scenes! I've come to the conclusion that coffee is sexier than tea (at least coffee cups vs. tea cups - no one can argue with that). Or maybe it's not the coffee at all! Maybe it's his hands I like. What a revelation. (6 out of 10)
Death - No.
Favorites Quotes - "We recognize the baptism of desire." * "Let the poor man rave." * "I know when a man is in pain." * "Oh, you are a good hater."
Video/DVD - If you want to see it just for Jason, rent it. If you're a Ralph Fiennes fan also, then definitely buy it.
